PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPTS

    Correspondence should be mailed directly to Mathematics and Computer Education, P. O. Box 158, Old Bethpage, NY 11804 USA. Manuscripts must conform to the following specifications:

  • Send an e-mail attachment ( macej@optonline.net ) with the text of the article. Do not send any hard copy. Articles must meet all format guidelines. Authors must send a single MS Word 2003 file with all figures in place, and using Equation Editor (or MathType) for all Mathematical Expressions and Equations.

  • The text should be double-spaced. Each page must be numbered.

  • Include your classification of the subject(s) of the article: Algebra, Calculus, Computers (PC or Mac), Differential Equations, Education, Fractals/Chaos, Geometry, Graphing Calculators, History, Linear Algebra, Logic, Number Theory, Numerical Analysis, Operations Research, Optimization, Probability, Problem Solving, Remedial Mathematics, Sets, Software, Statistics, Topology, Trigonometry, Other (specify).

  • Article introductory paragraph(s) should include the purpose of the article for the classroom teacher, and remark about its level.

  • References should include ISSN or ISBN numbers, if available. References and bibliographies: Listed at the end of the article. Categories are separated by commas, and in upper- and lower-case, ending with a period. First name(s) or initial(s), last name(s), title of book, edition - if any, in upper- and lower-case italic (if article: title of article in quotes, journal or magazine title in upper- and lower-case italic, Vol. (volume) No. (number), month or season), page number(s), publisher name, city, state (use two letter abbreviation), country if other than USA, ISSN or ISBN Number, publication date in parentheses as the final information.

  • Illustrations must be submitted as digital images in pdf format.

  • Articles containing computer programs that are to be viewed by the referees and are longer than thirty lines must be submitted with four CD's (in mailing containers) containing the program, plus a paper copy of the program listing to appear in the article, plus detailed specifications on hardware and software requirements.

  • Necessary signed copyright releases must be included.

  • All submitted articles must be original work, not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and not previously published.

  • After an original article has been submitted we will not accept unsolicited revisions.

    RECEIPT OF ARTICLES WILL BE ACKNOWLEDGED

EVALUATION OF MANUSCRIPTS

            All manuscripts are subject to anonymous review by three or more independent sources. Thus, it will usually take up to six months for evaluation of a paper.

            In the case of an article that has not been accepted for publication, Mathematics and Computer Education cannot return manuscript copies, CDs, or referee's reports to the author(s). All article files (those accepted for publication and not accepted for publication) will be retained by the journal office for at most one year.

            Mathematics and Computer Education is an independent, refereed journal, internationally indexed and abstracted, and devoted to: 

  • Critical evaluation and dissemination of articles.

  • Development of materials for the improvement of classroom effectiveness in the first years of college.

  • Encouragement of high academic standards.

THREE SPECIAL ISSUES ON DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION

WERE PRODUCED IN 2003 AND 2004

With support of the Department of Education Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education three special journal issues were produced under the general heading of Trends in Mathematics Education. The specific themes of these issues are as follows:
ISSUE 1: Innovative Approaches (Winter 2003 Issue).
ISSUE 2: Incorporating Technology (Fall 2003 Issue).
ISSUE 3: Reforming Pedagogy and Instruction (Spring 2004 Issue).
